APP - NP or PA/APP-Primary Care
Are you a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner looking to make a meaningful impact in a beautiful and unique community? Join our team in Yakutat, Alaska, where you will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive primary care to a diverse population across the lifespan in a rewarding, rural setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary health care at an IHS/HRSA funded facility.
- Manage complex, chronically ill, and acute patients.
- Offer urgent/emergent care, including trauma, mental health emergencies, and medical stabilization for transfer.
- Collaborate with specialists, order and interpret lab tests and x-rays.
- Conduct home visits for patients unable to travel.
- Document patient interactions in the YCHC electronic medical record.
- Advocate for patients and involve their support systems in care planning.
- Dispense medications from a limited formulary and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Nurse or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Preferred 5 years of primary care experience; emergency/trauma experience highly desirable.
- Unrestricted license as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Nurse Practitioner in any U.S. State or Territory; eligible for licensure in Alaska.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Full COVID-19 vaccination (or approved exemption).
- Valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska.
- Successful completion of a criminal and background check.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage patient care independently and work collaboratively with a team.
- Experience with electronic health record systems.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Cultural sensitivity towards Native American populations.
